Episode 02 - Pharma Journey of Dr. P. K. Rajput | Humans of Pharma

In this Episode 2 of the Pharma Journey Series, we talk to Dr. P K Rajput and listen to his pharma journey. 

In the second episode of the “Pharma Journey Series – Direct Dil Se” hosted by PharmaState Academy, Dr. P.K. Rajput shared his extensive experiences and insights from his illustrious career in the pharmaceutical industry. 

Dr. Rajput began his career as a medical representative in 1982 and has since amassed impressive credentials, including an MBA, 27 international certificates, 11 honorary doctorates, and a UGC-approved PhD. He is also on the advisory board of over 30 management teaching institutes and organizations globally.

During the discussion, Dr. Rajput emphasized the importance of self-defined life goals, highlighting how he transitioned from pursuing engineering to joining the medical profession due to his passion for healthcare. He credited his success to the value system instilled by his parents, the guidance of his teachers and seniors, the unwavering support of his wife, and inspirational figures like APJ Abdul Kalam.

Dr. Rajput outlined the dual necessity of hard work for organizational success and smart work for personal development. He shared his belief that attitude determines success, encouraging a positive, proactive, and respectful mindset.

Reflecting on his professional achievements, Dr. Rajput described his career journey as one of continuous learning and growth, moving from a medical representative to senior executive positions in Cadila Pharmaceuticals. He attributes his progress to embracing a culture of learning and adapting to industry changes, such as digitalization prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Rajput also discussed his forthcoming book, “The Leader with the Ladder,” which emphasizes leadership principles over traditional management styles. The book is structured into three parts: foundational leadership, skills development, and effortless talent. He underscored the importance of mindset, effective communication, emotional intelligence, discipline, and continuous learning as key components of successful leadership.

Furthermore, Dr. Rajput encouraged young professionals to embrace new technologies and innovations in the pharmaceutical industry, such as digital marketing, AR/VR, machine learning, and virtual care, to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving landscape. He stressed the significance of lifelong learning, adaptability, and a positive attitude in achieving personal and professional growth.

In conclusion, Dr. Rajput’s journey from a humble beginning to a leadership role in the pharmaceutical industry serves as an inspiring testament to the power of values, hard work, continuous learning, and a positive attitude.
